Job Description

The Team Manager role is to work in tandem with all employees and management to deliver & manage marquee builds and associated equipment from beginning to end whilst ensuring that all Baillie’s Procedures & Policies along with Health & Safety measures are always adhered to.

Giving clear and precise instructions to staff on loading and unloading a variety of equipment from vans and ensuring that correct and safe handling techniques are used.

Using your skills and knowledge assist in giving clear instructions to the work crew on erecting and dismantling marquees. Other responsibilities will include carrying equipment to and from the van such as framework, tables, chairs, flooring etc. If necessary, ensure that any equipment is cleaned as it arrives back from the marquee site.

Mentor and supervise new, temporary, and junior members of staff and ensure that individuals “toolbox checklists & orientation log” are kept up to date.

Responsible for adhering to and signing off the MUTA code of practice safety checklist and carry out risk assessment.

Undertake any appropriate training as directed by the company management.

Implementing general housekeeping rules in all areas during working hours.

You will be responsible for:

  • Loading / unloading vehicles.
  • Monitoring work times of team members on site and ensure allotted breaks are taken.
  • Demonstrate competence by marking out sites and instructing staff members on the installation of marquee frames.
  • Identifying potential hazards by carrying out risk assessments and implementing a strategy to reduce these risks and advise staff, customer, and sub-contractors accordingly.
  • Play an active role in Health and Safety Assessment and implementation as outlined on the company H & S chart to staff & sub-contractors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and to time scales.
  • Undertake any appropriate training as directed by the Company Management and show a willingness to identify areas of further development.
  • Be the recognised and senior point of contact on site for customers and staff where you have been identified as such.
  • Be part of a team manager group which will be responsible for the identifying and developing a company mentoring programme for new starts.
  • Show an understanding of the impact poor decision making can have on the business both from a legal and financial perspective and show a willingness to reduce poor decision making.
  • Assist the Directors & General Manager in the development of the business and promote it in a positive manner.
  • Ensure company vehicles are kept respectable, in good order, company No Smoking Policy is adhered to, and daily vehicle checks are being recorded.
  • Actively participate in the company “On Call” rota.
  • Demonstrate positivity and a “can do” attitude towards the unsociable aspects of this role.
  • Monitor staff’s conduct and enforce Company Policy as documented in the company handbook.
  • Be responsible for enforcing and signing off the MUTA Code of Practice safety checklist.

Core Principles & Entitlements:

  • This is a permanent position.
  • The role is based on 40 hours per week – Typical working hours will be 8:00am to 4:00pm 5 days out of 7 days (Monday – Sunday).
    During peak season you will be required to work overtime which usually equates to 60hrs per week.
  • Company Van provided (after probationary period & distance)
  • Probation period: 6 months
  • Salary: To be discussed at interview (Circa – £29,000 + Overtime)
  • 30 days holiday (inclusive of statutory), additional days awarded for long service.
  • You will be added to the company pension following completion of a satisfactory probation period.
